By deciding to remain in West Virginia and build their lives here, West Virginia's next generation of leaders already has demonstrated its resolve.
West Virginians recognize their state has experienced a prolonged exodus of bright, energetic young people who have settled and succeeded in other states. But that doesn't mean the cupboard is bare when it comes to young talent.
That assessment came from an experienced business executive who attended The State Journal's Generation Next event last week that celebrated young West Virginians who provide leadership in their professions and communities.
He's right. By deciding to remain in West Virginia and build their lives here, West Virginia's next generation of leaders already has demonstrated its resolve. It has shown its determination to make a difference in our state's future.
As they make their mark, we hope Generation Next also demands that West Virginia's elected leaders adopt the principles that allow the rest of the nation to prosper. That surely would be helpful to them.
