Governor Joe Manchin has launched a full investigation to find this money.
Story by Liz Kravitz
Federal dollars that were supposed to help people cope after the Sago mining disaster are missing.
35 thousand dollars was approved in April to provide counseling, but the money was never released, and Governor Joe Manchin has launched a probe.
And the discovery that the money is missing comes less than a month after two miners who worked in the Sago Mine during the January explosion took their own lives.
William Chisolm and John Nelson Boni shot themselves in separate incidents.
Chisolm, 47, from Belington died August 29.
Boni, 63, a fire boss from Volga, died this past Saturday.
Those federal funds that are now missing were supposed to be used by people who need help coping with the disaster.
The money was approved by federal officials, but it has not been released to the Appalachian Community Mental Health Center in Elkins.
Governor Manchin says while there is a full investigation into this incident, help is available, even though the money is not.
The governor will be at the Bluefield Coal Symposium Thursday night to give the keynote address. The main focus of the conference is safety.
