Two former West Virginia University football players -- one of whom played in the National Football League -- face trial in July on charges of robbing a Gilmer County grocery store.

A grand jury handed up an indictment this week charging Travis Garvin with breaking and entering, robbery, grand larceny and conspiracy.

Alvoid Mays is charged with grand larceny and conspiracy.

Both men pleaded innocent Friday during their arraignments before Gilmer County Circuit Judge Richard Facemire.

The charges stem from the Oct. 15 armed robbery of a Glenville Foodland. State Police say the suspects crashed a car during a police pursuit and then fled on foot before being captured.

Garvin was a wide receiver for the Mountaineers from 2002 to 2003.

Mays was a defensive back on the 1988 team that played for the national championship in the Fiesta Bowl, then played six seasons in the NFL with the Washington Redskins and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
