MORGANTOWN -- While 12 families have mourned their losses for the past year, the McCloy family has been trying to understand why it was spared.
Randal McCloy survived the Jan. 2 blast at the Sago Mine and 43 hours of carbon monoxide poisoning while trapped underground.
It has been a long road to recovery for McCloy and his treatments continue.
On the anniversary of the mine disaster, McCloy and his wife Anna joined the families of the Sago victims at the Sago Memorial and outside the mine.
The group placed wreaths and flowers outside the mine.
On the advice of his doctors, neither McCloy or anyone in his family granted interviews to the media on the anniversary.
