WEST UNION -- School officials are hoping the final phases of construction will be completed in order to start moving teachers and students into the new Doddridge County High School by mid-January.
Currently, more than 400 students are being housed and taught in a building that was built around 1939.
The aging structure has its problems, and Doddridge County Board of Education officials say the new multi-million dollar school will provide the state-of-the-art technology.
The new school will include a collegiate-sized gymnasium, an auditorium, several computer labs and increased security measures.
"I'm pretty excited about our security. We'll have outside cameras, we'll have inside cameras, keyless entry as well. In this day and time, that's extremely important for our students," said Administrative Assistant Rick Oyler.
Officials are hoping to open the school to students by the beginning of next semester. They plan to announce the exact date at a later time.
