A number of businesses are offering promotions to help with gas prices.

Story by Sarah Kapis

CLARKSBURG --  Gas prices continue to rise and that is causing some drivers to pinch their pennies.

Now a new push in advertising is helping drivers cope with some of those inflated prices.

The slumping economy and rising prices of just about everything is hitting consumers where it hurts the most.

"In all of the trade magazines, it is the most important thing customers care about right now is how am I going to pay for fuel," said Doug Urse of Urse Dodge Chrysler Jeep.

The $2.99 gas guarantee is just one effort from the Chrysler company to help its customers during these tough times.

However, its not just the auto industry getting in on the trend. Panera Bread restaurants in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio are starting a $75 gas giveaway every Saturday at 10:00 a.m. for eight weeks.

In all, the Covelli owned Panera restaurants will be dishing out $40,000 in the promotion.

The Allegheny Chapter of the American Red Cross is hurting too, but for donors. It is raffling off a years supply of gas in exchange for blood donations. So as long as the prices keep increasing, it's likely these kinds of money- saving incentives will too.
