Wheeling City Workers Get Pay Increase
Posted Tuesday, January 6, 2009 ; 10:36 PM | View Comments | Post Comment

Full time city workers will receive a lump sum.

Story by Steven Centofanti

Wheeling -- Wheeling City Council approved a $400 pay increase Tuesday night for full time city employees.

The $400 comes in a lump sum and is only good for the fiscal year which means employees will only see this $400 increase once.

Last July, full time city workers were given a 3% pay increase and if there was any money left over in the city budget, employees were going to request a possible 1% increase.

Instead workers will get the lump sum.

"It was an opportunity for city council to provide some additional compensation for our hardworking employees," said Bob Herron, City Manager.
