TAZEWELL- -- The Tazewell County Relay For Life is just a few weeks away.
A first year team is raising awareness with a colorful campaign called, paint the county purple.
Team members will be going door to door to homes and businesses selling purple ribbons.
The ribbons represent the efforts of the American Cancer Society and the fight against the deadly disease.
"I just believe in it because we've been touched by you know just friends and you feel like you're on the sideline going, what can I do and I think this is a way we can all fight it." said Christy Thompson, Team Captain.
The relay team will be traveling around Tazewell County this Saturday.
The ribbons are $10.
All of the proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.
The Tazewell County Relay for Life is scheduled for June 27 at Southwest Virginia Community College.
