A familiar face will lead the Greenbrier East Spartans.

FAIRLEA --  Greenbrier East High School officially welcomes its new head football coach.

Aaron Baker is taking over the Spartan team.

A press conference was held at the high school Wednesday night.

Baker is no stranger to Greenbrier county.

He's been coaching at Eastern Greenbrier Middle School the last several years.

He's also a 6th grade teacher there.

Coach Baker says the team faces some challenges including some lessons outside of football.

"What we've been able to do is make football fun, make football interesting for kids. Turn kids into not just football players, but young men. Those are the things I want to carry over into the high school. I want kids to come in and understand there is a lot of hard work involved but it will pay off in the long run," said Baker.

Coach Baker is also an alumni of Greenbrier East, playing football for the Spartans in the early 90s.

He was joined by his wife and two sons for the press conference.
