DUNLOUP CREEK -- Conservationists continue to inform home-owners of a flood buy-out program in Fayette County.
144 applications for the voluntary buy-out program were sent to residents in the Dunloup Creek area in early June.
So far, workers say 64 applications have been returned.
The U-S Department of Agriculture is working with the residents to get them out of the flood plain. That includes buying their homes and helping them relocate.
"You're land, house, whatever you have will be appraised. On top of that appraisal, you will receive up to $30,000 in relocation expenses to help get you out. This is going to be a very lucrative project, " says Gary Redden a USDA District Conservationst.
Workers will start going door-to-door Monday to reach those residents who are unable to come to the office on their own.
A housing fair has also been organized for the residents.
It's scheduled for August 9th at the Glen Jean Armory.
Realtors, loan officers and land developers will all be there.
