Some blame drainage system.
By Alicia Suka
PRINCETON -- It's a sight all too familiar for many Princeton residents and business owners.
At 7 a.m. Thursday, heavy rain backed up drains and caused some areas to flood, particularly along Stafford Drive in Princeton.
Parts of the road had to be temporarily shut down as a safety precaution.
Drivers compare the intersection of Stafford Drive and Bee Street to a small lake but say it's something they've grown used to.
"Main thing is drainage. We got a drain here in the parking lot in the front and on the side. The one on the side is completely stopped. The one at Long John Silver's - - no drainage," said Joe pinter, Auto Zone Manager.
By noon Thursday, the roads were wet, but clear.
Princeton officials say Stafford Road is maintained by the state.
City manager Wayne Shumate says they've applied for a grant to help correct the problem.
