PARKERSBURG -- Daniel Swisher, an entrepreneur and financial professional, native to Parkersburg, announced his candidacy for U. S. Congress Tuesday. He was compelled to run due to the dramatic swing of the current leadership towards socialism, extreme taxation stemming from the current U.S. Congress and the ongoing investigations of corruption linked to current Democrat incumbent, Rep. Alan Mollohan.

GOP congressional candidate Daniel Swisher released the following statement Tuesday:

“This week, I will file paperwork with the Federal Election Commission establishing a campaign committee to run forCongress in 2010.”

“The challenges that face West Virginia families are as great as they’ve ever been. The White House and congressional Democrats are hostile to the Mountaineer way of life. Massive debt continues to pile up with no jobs to show for it. More and more young people are leaving our state for economic opportunities that just aren’t available to them here. The First District of West Virginia has no real congressional representation. Rep. Mollohan is under investigation for defrauding our state while dramatically increasing his own personal wealth and is in dereliction of duty. Something must be done.”

“I am not a politician. I am a businessman and entrepreneur who believes I can help create good jobs that will move West Virginia forward and make it a place where we can live and thrive. That’s why I am coming home to the place I was born and raised – to the friends and family I love – to represent West Virginia in Congress.”

After filing Federal Election Commission paperwork this week, Swisher will move quickly to put together a strong campaign organization and will make a more formal announcement at a later date.
