Groups across the country gathered for the "Health Care for America Now" campaign.

CHARLESTON -- As Congress began debating one of the major health care reform proposals on Capitol Hill Tuesday, hundreds of protests were held outside major insurance companies all across the nation.

It's part of the "Health Care for America Now" campaign. In Charleston, this group protested outside the offices of Coventry Insurance. They're charging that the big insurance companies are spending more than a half-million dollars per day to oppose any meaningful health care reform. The protestors want those companies to take care of their policy holders.

Organizer Gary Zuckett said denial of coverage is happening on a daily basis and that's why Congress needs to pass health insurance reform that includes a public option. Coventry Insurance officials did not return our calls for comment.
