LEWISBURG -- The Greenbrier County Board of Education met with the community to present design plans for school construction.

ETB and MBAJ Architects are heading up construction across the county. There are five projects including two new schools and remodeling to three existing schools.

These projects are being funded by the $37,000,000 school bond that was voted for in November 2008 and $10,600,000 from the state School Building Authority.

"We are very thankful to the community for voting for the school bond," says John Curry, Greenbrier County Schools Superintendent.

Exterior construction is underway at Smoot Elementary School. Eastern Greenbrier Middle School will be getting a new gymnasium. Major renovations are planned for Greenbrier East High School and new elementary schools will be built in Lewisburg and Rainelle.

"Our facilities are going to be very, very much in line with 21st century skills that our students need to have to be successful," says Curry.

I agree but when their is news around Rainelle it is usually Drug or Sex offender related. To bad people who have left the Rainelle area have not come back to try to reinvent/invest in this pretty little town. We all know Rainelle is dying and any money, building and renovations are being done in Lewisburg. To bad, so sad. Rainelle could be a really nice place live if given the chance and a nice facelift.

Why does it seem like this station always has news for the east end of Greenbrier Co, but never the west end? And when it dosen't have news for the east end they will make it? It is Greenbrier West High School getting the renovations, not Greenbrier East.
