STEUBENVILLE, Ohio -- The processing duties at the Steubenville Post Office might be outsourced to Youngstown, Ohio.

One postal employee said he's been told the machines will be removed next Saturday.

Postal officials in Cleveland said that could be true but no announcement has been made yet, not even to the employees.

"The employees have not been told because a final decision has not yet been made," Bubina said. Victor Bubina, public affairs officer for the Post Office, said there was a meeting in Cleveland this week dealing with that possibility.

Bubina said they already moved the cancellation part of mail processing out of Steubenville at least two years ago.

He said the only processing that remains in Steubenville is, "a couple of delivery bar code sorters."

One postal worker in Steubenville said their postmaster was attending a meeting in Cleveland Thursday learning the details.

From my 40 yrs with the USPS, the employee's are usually the LAST to know. Management seems to think there is no need to inform the rank and file employee's. It's what I would call a lack of respect.
