WINFIELD -- It was senior night for the Winfield High School girls’ volleyball team. But instead of making the evening all about them -- they were selflessly "Digging Pink."

Dig Pink is a national effort to promote breast health and fight for a cure for breast cancer.

And these volleyball players hope their effort will help make a difference.

Survivors in attendance say events like these help strengthen awareness, which makes a world of difference.

"(I hope it) Make(s) every woman aware that how important it is to get their mammograms and just be very conscious of any changes you have because it's life saving. A mammogram can save your life," survivor, Sandra Rigsby said.

Many of the young volleyball players say they've actually gotten mammograms done already -- because no one is too young.
