PENNSBORO -- Officials in Ritchie County have located a 2 1/2 year old girl who went missing at 11 a.m. Friday.

The authorities located the child at about 7 p.m. Friday, and will take her to a local hospital for a precautionary check-up, according to Ritchie County 911 officials.

Raven Midnight Owens' mother reported last seeing her daughter playing with a kitten outside of her Oil Ridge Road home, according to a release from the 911 Center.

We don't know the circumstances so we should probably reserve judgement about things like why she was outside alone. Perhaps she wasn't alone. It just says that is the last place her mom saw her, perhaps someone else was outside as well, like an older sibling or something. Also, She may have left her for just a couple of seconds and the girl was gone. You know how fast they can get aways from you if you are distracted for even a moment! I have two children (5 and 3) and I let them play outside in our fenced in yard while I am in the kitchen doing dishes and such. I just leave the kitchen door open and listen for them and check on them often. Who knows how she disappeared. The important thing is that they found her! Thank god!
