Wyoming County commissioners are hopeful that federal stimulus money will fund a new water plant that will serve 10,000 homes.

HANOVER -- The Wyoming County Commission is working on bringing a water treatment plant to the Hanover area.
The proposed plant would serve roughly 10,000 households.
Originally, the plan was drawn up to bring water to 200 homes in the area, in a short period of time the plans have escalated to a much larger project.
If the plan were to continue as the commission plans it would cost in the ballpark of $120 million. The commission is hoping to push the proposal quickly so they can secure federal stimulus money for the plans.
Although a vote would have to take place, several mayors and local public service district water treatment facilities have thrown their support behind the project. Wyoming, and parts of McDowell and Mingo counties would see the benefits.
Water would be drawn from the R.D. Bailey Lake. City officials said that would essentially give them an endless supply of water. |
