WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS -- Merchants in White Sulphur Springs got in the holiday spirit by hosting an open house Thursday.

The event was held Nov. 19 throughout downtown. Shops and businesses opened their doors to the public for a special holiday sale.

"It's a wonderful time to start your Christmas shopping or just get ideas about decorating or what's out there and the different gift items, all kinds of things lots of fun," Melinda Workman, Gillespie's Flowers said.

Most of the shops offered free refreshments and Gillespie's Flowers served up chili and cornbread.
