MORGANTOWN -- Preparations are in full swing as the start of rifle season begins Monday.

"We sell a lot of corn, guys go out and feed the deer to get them ready" said Dominick Marrara of Kingwood Citgo.

Marrara is getting ready for his part, stocking nearly a thousand pounds of corn that hunters will feed to the deer.

At Pedlar's Shooting Range in Monongalia County, Russ Trickett is usually prepared two weeks ahead time. This year, he's scrambling for some last minute practice.

"I've usually had all this done by now," said Trickett

According to the West Virginia DNR, each year more than 350,000 hunters take to West Virigina's woods.

Sunday, Nicholas Cooke experienced his first day shooting a gun.

It's been a long wait and for these hunters it looks like they're right on target

Additionally, the West Virginia DNR says, hunting related expenses bring in nearly $300 million to the state's economy and provide 5,000 jobs.
