Trial Date Set For Ohio County Man Accused of Sex Crimes

Gerry Barnes, 37, is scheduled to go to trial on sex charges April 23 in Ohio County.

A man accused of sexually assaulting a mentally-handicapped woman now is scheduled to go on trial in Ohio County.

Gerry Barnes, 37, will face a jury of his peers April 23.

He is charged with first-degree sexual assault, kidnapping and second-degree sexual assault.

The alleged assaults took place at Russell Nesbitt Services in Wheeling in July 2008 against a 35-year-old female resident.

Barnes is being held in the Northern Regional Jail.
