A 26-year-old Putnam County man was arrested Wednesday and charged with sexually assaulting and abusing a six-year-old girl.

According to court records, a Putnam County man is being charged with sexually assaulting and abusing a six-year-old girl.

Mark Roach, 26, of Hometown, was arrested Wednesday morning on two charges, including one count of sexual abuse by a parent or guardian and one count of sexual assault.

The criminal complaint says the girl, who is now seven, told her mother about what happened. The mother took her to the hospital, and staff from the hospital called investigators Tuesday. The alleged abuse and assaults occurred between May and September 2009.
