OAK HILL --  Fayette County deputies arrested 50-year-old August Moore of Oak Hill Thursday. He has been charged with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Deputies say they received a tip Thursday that two individuals had purchased a large quantity of drugs in the Charlotte, North Carolina area and were transporting the drugs to Oak Hill for resale.

Deputies were given a vehicle description and license plate number. Deputies and Oak Hill police officers began surveillance to locate and stop the vehicle.

Around 9 p.m. Thursday the vehicle was spotted on Route 19 in the Oak Hill area and stopped near Maple Court Apartments. Officers searched the car and found two pounds of marijuana worth more than $2,100 and $760 in cash in the car.

Moore is being held in the Southern Regional Jail.

The investigation is on going.
