Activities and achievements: Ranked in the top one percent of her senior class, Rachel is a member of the National Honor Society and was selected for the Junior National Young Leaders Conference and Who's Who in Science. She is captain of her school's dance line, lettered in band and she's in Key Club, chemistry club and student council. In her community, Rachel is part of the Weirton Community Players theater group, volunteers at the Weirton Medical Center and the Weirton Rescue Squad and writes her school's column for the Weirton Daily Times. 

Plans: Helping care for ailing family members inspired Rachel to pursue a career in the medical field. She is considering undergraduate programs at West Virginia University or the University of Pittsburgh, where she eventually hopes to attend medical school. She aspires to become a pediatric oncologist or a pediatric diagnostician at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Children's Hospital.
