Activities and achievements: A member of the National Honor Society, Alex has been taking computer and electronics training to complete his certification as a CISCO Certified Network Associate by the time he graduates from high school. He completed a work-based mentorship in the information technology department at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital and has volunteered for multiple community organizations with his church's youth group. He also is active in Skills USA, a nationwide program designed to help students become part of a skilled work force. He placed second in the nation this past summer in that group's business competition.

Plans: Alex plans to attend a four-year institution in West Virginia and is considering several liberal arts colleges. He will major in computer science with a focus on software engineering, and he would like to reside and work in his home state after graduation.
