Activities and achievements: An accomplished musician, William plays the mellophone and is platoon leader in his high school's marching band and plays first-chair French horn in the concert band. He also plays French horn for the University-Shenandoah Symphony Orchestra  and the Lippskin Woodwind Quintent. He was selected for the Governors School for the Arts and to play for the New River Youth Symphony and the Virginia Tech Honors Band. He also won superior honors at the West Virginia Educators Association Solo and Ensemble Festival. William is a member of the National Honor Society and the math honor society. 

Plans: For several years William has been pursuing an interest in architecture by attending summer workshops around the country, including at Virginia Tech and California Polytechnic State University. He plans to continue this study in college with a career focusing on sustainable architecture and design.
