Honoring Exceptional Students

This publication includes profiles of high school seniors from all 55 West Virginia counties — students who have excelled in the classroom, contributed time and talent to their schools and also worked to improve their communities.

The accomplished students highlighted in this year's edition represent both large and small high schools in cities and rural regions of the state. While they have different experiences and aspirations, they have one strong common trait: They are planning for the future and developing their path toward their educational and career goals.

The EQT Students of Excellence program would not be possible without the generous help of EQT and the EQT Foundation. The energy company and its foundation not only are sponsoring $1,000 scholarships for one student in every West Virginia county, but they also are sponsoring three full-ride scholarships worth up to $18,000 per year for four years to students interested in engineering, geology, computer science or information technology, energy or land management, environmental science and safety science.

The State Journal and EQT salute these seniors.

We invite our readers to review the profiles of some of our state's talented young citizens. We join their families, schools and communities in recognizing them for their perseverance and commitment.
