The situation in Lincoln County would be comical if it weren't so deadly serious.
Jerry Weaver, the former assessor who already spent a number of years beyond bars on election fraud charges, is now running for office.
I don't know what's worse – the amount of gall he has or the fact that, seemingly, he can actually do it and possibly win. Can you imagine the county's top law enforcement official not even being able to arm himself because he's a convicted felon?
This is a travesty and the state Legislature needs to step up and close whatever loopholes there are surrounding this situation.
Democracy is not a joke.
