Amanda Curry

Vice president and regional manager, City National Bank, Huricane, 35

On her first paying job:

"My first job was a teller. It kind of happened as I was graduating (from) high school. The bank contacted the counselor. They were looking for two people to be summer tellers. I walked in the first day, and I had no idea how the banking system worked. Surprisingly they invited me to stay, as clueless as I was."

Amanda Curry should have a pretty good idea now how the banking system works.

She worked at a bank in Bridgeport weekends and summers while attending West Virginia University. After graduating in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in business administration, the Bridgeport native joined a bank in Charleston as a personal banker. That bank had recruited her for its management training program. She spent six years there before moving to City National Bank as a regional manager.

As a vice president and regional manager, Curry oversees eight retail branches in the Greater Putnam Region. She also monitors goals and expectations for branches and employees.

At City, she developed the City Leadership Academy, an 11-month program to develop top performers into future leaders for the company. She also serves as the company's only corporate sales trainer. She coaches and develops staff to actively sell, refer, deliver and promote the bank's products and services.

Curry has numerous professional affiliations on her resume. She has been a member of Putnam County Chamber of Commerce board of directors since 2007 and has served as its chairwoman. She also is on the board of the Putnam County Development Authority.

But banking and community organizations aren't all that Curry, 35, is interested in. She also operates her own company, Healthy Kid Inc., to help families prepare low-cost nutritious meals.
