CHARLESTON -

Beth Vorhees has been named director of news and public affairs for West Virginia Public Broadcasting.

Vorhees has worked for West Virginia Public Broadcasting for 25 years, serving in various positions including reporter, host and producer for "West Virginia Morning" on West Virginia Public Radio and host and producer of "The Legislature Today" on West Virginia PBS. 

She also is the producer and host of "Inside Appalachia," a weekly radio news magazine that airs in West Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee. 

Vorhees previously served as news director for West Virginia Public Radio from 1985-1991.
