Eban Goodstein, director of the Bard Center for Environmental Policy and founding director of Bard's new MBA program in sustainability, will speak this week about climate change and power solutions to it.

Goodstein will speak from 6:30-8 p.m. Feb. 22 at the University of Charleston's Erma Byrd Gallery. His speech is part of the ongoing series hosted by UC, "Energy: Who's Got the Power."

Goodstein is an economist focused on the relationship between economics and the environment.  He holds a doctorate in economics from the University of Michigan and directs two national educational initiatives on global warming: C2C and The National Climate Seminar.  He is the author of a college textbook, "Economics and the Environment" and "The Trade-off Myth: Fact and Fiction about Jobs and the Environment," among other books and articles.

In 1999, Goodstein founded the Green House Network, an organization dedicated to supporting the clean energy movement through education. He and his wife have organized two national teach-in initiatives titled "Focus the Nation," involving more than 2,000 universities and schools in events designed to educate and engage Americans in a discussion of sustainability and global warming solutions.  The teach-ins are national webcasts, including "campus-to-congress" dialogue, in which members of Congress hold live conversations with student audiences via the web.
