Patricia J. Schumann has been named vice president for university advancement at West Virginia State University. Schumann comes from Davis & Elkins College, where she had served as vice president for college advancement since 2003. 

In that role, she was responsible for the college's fundraising and alumni relations programs and provided leadership for the $25.5 million centennial campaign. 

Also at Davis & Elkins, Schumann served as director of alumni relations and annual giving, director of development, and director of college advancement. 

Before that, Schumann held positions as coordinator of marketing and public relations for the West Virginia University's Department of Ophthalmology and as production editor for The Psychological Corp. in Cleveland. 

Schumann earned bachelor's and master's degrees in English from the University of Dayton.
