CHARLESTON (AP) — U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan is coming to West Virginia next week.

Duncan will visit Charleston and Welch on Sept. 20 as part of an annual back-to-school bus tour promoting education.

Duncan will head to Charleston's Elk Elementary Center for a discussion on early learning.

That evening, he'll be part of a panel discussion at Mount View High School on building public-private education partnerships. McDowell County is the focus of such a partnership aimed at rescuing the impoverished county and its troubled schools.

The U.S. Education Department's cross-country tour starts Sept. 12 and ends Sept. 21.
