PRINCETON (AP) — Signs proclaiming Princeton as "The Heart of Mercer County" could soon appear at major entrance points to the city.

City officials are awaiting state approval to erect welcome signs with Princeton's new slogan.

Mayor Patricia Wilson tells the Bluefield Daily Telegraph that city officials have been working on replacing the welcome signs for the past three years.

City officials held a contest in 2011 to replace the existing slogan, "The Gateway to Four Seasons Country." The winning slogan was chosen from nearly 600 entries.
