Morgantown-area foodies have two opportunities to buy farm-fresh goods at the West Virginia University Extension Service Small Farm Conference that begins Feb. 28 in Morgantown.

Back by popular demand is the annual Winter Blues Farmers Market, sponsored by the West Virginia Farmers Market Association. The market is open to the public from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 at Waterfront Place. Nearly 50 vendors will sell everything from local meats and vegetables to breads. Admission to the market is free.

Also on Thursday, a Local Food Dine-Around will take place beginning at 4 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door and can be exchanged toward samples from 12 West Virginia restaurants exhibiting at the Dine-Around.

The WVU Extension Service Small Farm Conference addresses a wide range of topics affecting agriculturists, and most importantly, small farmers from West Virginia. More than 70 classes on topics such as agricultural law, marketing, and high tunnels are offered.

To register for the conference or to view a tentative schedule, visit www.smallfarmcenter.ext.wvu.edu/conference.
