Tomblin reappoints PSC’s Albert; expired McKinney seat still unclear

Posted: Updated:

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin quietly reappointed Public Service Commission Chairman Michael Albert on May 20 to another six-year term on the commission, again as chairman.

The move was not publicly announced as far as Tomblin spokesperson Tina Stinson was aware.

It is Albert's third term and second full term. He originally was appointed by Gov. Joe Manchin in February 2007 to serve out an unexpired term and was re-appointed by Manchin to a full term that began July 1, 2007.

Albert has served as chairman since July 1, 2007. His re-appointment is effective July 1.

Asked June 28 about the disposition of Commissioner Jon McKinney, whose first term expired June 30, 2011, and who has been neither re-appointed nor replaced, the governor's office has not yet responded.
