Murray Energy Corporation announced on Thursday the company has completed the purchase
of Consolidation Coal from CONSOL Energy.
The acquisition includes the McElroy, Shoemaker, Blacksville, Loveridge, and Robinson Run mines, coal reserves, related river transportation and dock facilities, and other assets. The Consolidation Coal name has also been changed to Murray American Energy, Inc.
The river transportation operations will be conducted by Murray American Transportation, Inc.
Murray Energy also has renamed former Consolidation Coal mines. Shoemaker Mine becomes The Ohio County Coal Company's Ohio County Mine. McElroy Mine becomes The Marshall County Coal Company's Marshall County Mine. Loveridge Mine becomes The Marion County Coal Company's Marion County Mine. Robinson Run Mine becomes The Harrison County Coal Company's Harrison County Mine, and Blacksville Mine becomesThe Monongalia County Coal Company's Monongalia County Mine.
In a press release issued on Thursday, Murray Energy stated the company and its subsidiary companies now employ approximately 7,100 people and operate 13 active mines, consisting of 12 underground longwall mining systems and 46 continuous mining units.
